The Vitebsk region is receiving the utmost attention, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova told reporters before meeting with the region's medical workers.

According to the speaker of the upper house of parliament, the issues of providing medical workers with everything necessary are relevant for every region. The country is doing everything possible to curb coronavirus.

"The Vitebsk region is receiving the utmost attention. The incidence rate here is higher than in other regions and regional centers," Natalya Kochanova noted. "All measures are being taken to provide personal protective equipment, medicines, and to protect medical workers, on whom a lot depends. These tasks have been set by the President."

The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic emphasized the importance of meeting with medical workers who are working with patients and are on the front lines. "It is important to have an honest and frank conversation to learn firsthand about the issues, what needs to be resolved, and what assistance should be provided to stabilize the situation. Based on the meeting's outcomes, we will see where we need to lend a hand. We hope that the situation will improve in the near future, both in the Vitebsk region and in Minsk," said Natalya Kochanova.
