The National Bank of Belarus will introduce modified banknotes with denominations of Br5,000 and Br100 into circulation

July 20, Minsk /Anna Kot - BELTA/. The National Bank of Belarus will put into circulation modified banknotes of Br5 thousand and Br100 denominations, the BELTA correspondent was informed at the National Bank's Information Department.

"For the purpose of enhancing security features and improving visual security elements on the 2000 model banknotes of the National Bank of Belarus of Br5 thousand denomination, and reducing the costs of manufacturing Br100 denomination banknotes, the 2000 model banknotes of the 2011 modification will be put into circulation: on July 25, 2011 - Br5 thousand denomination, and on September 5, 2011 - Br100 denomination," the National Bank reported.

The image of the obverse and reverse sides, the color scheme, and the size of the new modified banknotes remain the same as those of the 2000 model banknotes of the corresponding denominations.

The 2000 model banknotes of the 2011 modification of Br5 thousand and Br100 denominations have the following differences.

The Br5 thousand denomination banknote has a metallized "diving" type security thread with segments emerging on the paper surface as shiny rectangles forming a dashed line, instead of a transparent polymer thread with the text "NB RB" in direct and reversed image embedded in the paper. When viewed against the light, the security thread appears as a solid dark stripe.

The Br100 denomination banknote lacks a security thread in the paper mass.

"The modified banknotes of the National Bank of Belarus of Br5 thousand and Br100 denominations being put into circulation are legal tender of the Republic of Belarus and are mandatory for acceptance at their face value in all types of payments without any restrictions," the Information Department of the National Bank noted.

It was added that the 2000 model banknotes of the National Bank of Belarus of Br5 thousand and Br100 denominations remain in circulation in the republic along with the modified banknotes of the National Bank. -0-
