Focusing solely on meeting targets does not lead to significant success - Alexander Subbotin
Sole focus on meeting performance indicators does not allow for significant work success. This opinion was shared by the Aide to the President of Belarus – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region, Alexander Subbotin, commenting on the report of the government, the National Bank, regional executive committees, and the Minsk City Executive Committee on the results of the economy in 2017 and the tasks for ensuring sustainable economic growth.
Alexander Subbotin noted that yesterday's event was aimed at eliminating weak spots and shortcomings that prevent the successful fulfillment of the main state task. And this task, as is known, is to improve people's lives. "To achieve this goal, everyone must coordinate their work and do common work together. Unfortunately, not everyone succeeds in this. The Head of State rightly pointed out that each ministry and department has its own task. And they strive to meet the indicators at any cost. But in the end, unfortunately, this turns into formalism – the numbers are achieved, everything is fine with the reporting, but the work stalls, the goal is not achieved," he noted. "The key to success is to do everything together. A simple example: in the past, in our villages, everyone built a house together. The village would gather and build a hut in a few days. But one person alone could not cope with this even in a year."
Answering the question about the main task the President's Aide set for himself in the region after yesterday's government report, he noted that personnel policy needs to be dealt with in detail and closely. "By and large, everything depends on people. A very common and clear example is that in one district, two farms operate in absolutely identical conditions, with the same starting capital. At the same time, one enterprise is firmly on its feet and is developing, while the second is practically bankrupt. What's the reason? It's the manager, everything depends on him! There are managers who are, as they say, gifted, and there are less talented but more hardworking ones, who, lacking outstanding abilities, compensate for this with their work, perseverance, and determination. In fact, both the first and the second manage to move their enterprise forward. This is true everywhere, in any business, at all levels. Therefore, if there are
"we will have good, strong, educated leaders, they will infect the team with their energy and will be able to organize the work so that it will be successful," the President's Aide is convinced. He also shared his general impressions of yesterday's event. "The conversation was frank, and I wouldn't say it was soft. The accents have been placed. The Head of State emphasized that not only macroeconomic indicators are important to him, but also the circumstances that develop in a small district and in each specific family," the interlocutor stressed.
