The Braslav Lakes National Park plans to triple its capacity for receiving tourists by 2012

November 19, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. The state environmental institution "Braslav Lakes National Park" plans to triple the capacity of the park's tourist facilities for simultaneous reception of vacationers within the next 3 years. This was announced to a BELTA correspondent by the park's General Director, Andrei Kudin. The park administration has developed a development program for "Braslav Lakes," which provides for the reconstruction of existing complexes and the construction of new facilities. "If today the park's 4 recreation centers are designed to accommodate up to 170 tourists at a time, then the implementation of this program will increase the daily capacity of our facilities by at least 2-3 times," the source noted. Over 10 months of 2009, about Br1.5 billion was invested in the development of the park's tourist complex. These funds were used for the repair and reconstruction of a number of facilities. In addition, by the end of the year, it is planned to disburse almost another Br1 billion for the reconstruction of the third building of the "Drivyaty" recreation center, which will allow for an increase in the number of rooms at the center by approximately 25% in the future due to rooms in the mid-price segment. In addition, part of the funds was allocated for the reconstruction and expansion of the parking complex. A total of 34 existing parking lots were put in order, and they are capable of accommodating up to 500 people per day. In 2010, the park administration will also continue to develop parking sites. New locations for parking lots have been identified, mainly on the shores of the water bodies of the Boginskaya group of lakes. By the opening of the 2010 tourist season, this work is planned to be completed, as a result of which the capacity of the parking complex for receiving vacationers will increase to 800 people per day. One of the directions for expanding the capacity of the tourist complex is the construction of low-budget summer houses. The possibility of building a multifunctional cultural and entertainment center is currently being considered, which will expand the park administration's opportunities for organizing leisure activities for vacationers and local residents throughout the year. The construction of this and a number of other facilities is possible with the participation of foreign investors, who are already showing interest in the national park's projects, Andrei Kudin added. -0-
