The best newspapers, TV and radio studios of the Vitebsk region have been named
A formal reception dedicated to Press Day and the Day of Radio, Television and Communications Workers was held at the Regional Executive Committee. The Head of the Region, Nikolai Sherstnev, congratulating journalists, printers, postal workers, telecommunications workers, and Soyuzpechat employees on their professional holidays, noted that they are all united by a common cause. "You participate in shaping people's social mood, creating the region's image on a national scale, and forming the image of Belarus abroad," said Nikolai Nikolaevich. "This is a great responsibility to society and the state."
According to the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, sociological surveys show that regional print media currently have a larger audience than national media. This means that local press is closer to the people.
"Your word is largely decisive in shaping public opinion," Nikolai Sherstnev emphasized. A vivid testament to this is the fact that the Vitebsk region has the highest saturation of periodicals per thousand people in the republic. And to maintain this indicator, it is necessary to create an information product that is attractive to the mass audience. In his speech, the Head of the region outlined a number of problematic issues for regional media: a deficit of professional journalistic staff, especially in leadership positions, a shortage of analytical materials in the press, insufficient online presence, where young people spend a lot of time, as well as many middle-aged and older people.
Addressing the postal workers, Nikolay Nikolayevich noted that the optimization of district hubs and the postal service network is causing complaints from villagers who are accustomed to having the post office always nearby. Therefore, it is important that mobile post offices function efficiently, giving no cause for complaint. "Vitebskoblsoyuzpechat" is required in modern conditions to pay more attention to the distribution of regional press. In the governor's opinion, people should be maximally informed about the events of our lives, the activities of local authorities, problematic issues, and ways to solve them.
Wishing those present good health, happiness, success in their work, creative and life inspiration, Nikolay Sherstnev took part in the awarding ceremony for the winners of the regional competition for printed mass media for the F. Skorina prize and electronic media for the "Vityaz" prize.
