The Week of Financial Literacy for Children and Youth was held in the Vitebsk region

From March 12 to 18, 2018, the Children and Youth Financial Literacy Week (Global Money Week) was held throughout Belarus. Traditionally, as part of this week, numerous events are held worldwide aimed at fostering financial literacy among the younger generation.

The international organization Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI), the initiator and coordinator of this global initiative, recommended holding the 2018 Children and Youth Financial Literacy Week events under the slogan "Money Matters".

The Main Directorate of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus for the Vitebsk Region, within the framework of the international week, organized and conducted educational events, which were attended by over 200 people – students, pupils of secondary vocational educational institutions and high school students, and воспитанники (foster children) of an orphanage.

The focus of the events on providing youth with knowledge on how to handle money and manage it will allow them to plan their expenses in the future, borrow wisely, build savings, and assess financial risks – to be financially literate.

Specialists of the Main Directorate also conducted classes on the topic "Financial Literacy Tips" on issues of lending, analysis of possible reasons for loan denials by banks, formation of credit histories of individuals in the automated information system of the National Bank "Credit Register", and the use of the system's data.

The events were traditionally accompanied by a tour of a unique museum exhibition dedicated to the history of the formation and development of banking in the Vitebsk region.

A pleasant moment for children and youth was the presentation of souvenir products from the National Bank.
