The Occupational Safety Week will be held in the Vitebsk region from November 22 to 26

November 9, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. A labor protection week will be held in the Vitebsk region from November 22 to 26, the first deputy head of the Vitebsk regional department of the State Labor Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Sergey Anufriev, told a BELTA correspondent. The campaign is designed to draw workers' attention to the causes of industrial injuries and the need to bring workplaces into compliance with labor protection standards and rules. For this purpose, throughout the week, mass briefings for workers will be held at enterprises in the region, their workplaces will be inspected, and specialists' performances will be organized. This topic will be widely covered in the media. The reason for holding the campaign was an increase in the level of industrial injuries. According to operational data, in January-October 2010, 20 workers died in the region, and 76 people were seriously injured, which is 25% and 26.6% more, respectively, compared to the same period last year. In organizations of communal ownership, the level of serious injuries increased from 16 to 25 cases. More than 48% of accidents are caused by low production and performance discipline. At the same time, the most difficult situation is developing in organizations of the agro-industrial complex, construction, housing and communal services, and the non-state sector of the economy. -0-
