Неделя памяти Петра Машерова пройдет 11-17 февраля в Витебской области

Numerous events dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Pyotr Mironovich Masherov's birth will be held these days in all regions of the oblast. Thus, commemorative evenings, literary exhibitions in libraries, and photo-documentary exhibitions in museums are planned. The most interesting of them will unfold in places connected with Masherov's life. In the Museum of Military Comradeship in Rossony District, where Masherov worked as a mathematics and physics teacher, and led the partisan underground during the war years, the exhibition "Immortal Memory Lives" will be presented. The exhibition features his personal belongings, gifts, books, and printed materials about his life and activities. The Senno Historical and Local Lore Museum will hold classes that will allow schoolchildren and students of the city to learn more about their famous countryman. Thematic class and information hours will also be held in vocational education institutions of the oblast.

Many interesting biographical facts will be announced on February 12 at the Vitebsk Regional Palace of Children and Youth Creativity, where regional local lore readings dedicated to Masherov's anniversary will take place. On February 13, flowers will be laid at his bust on Zamkovaya Street. The "Star Relay of Memory" will start here, and in the evening, festive events will continue at Vitebsk State University, which has borne Pyotr Masherov's name since 1998. Masherov received his higher education within the walls of this educational institution in the distant years of 1935-1939. Now the university carefully preserves the memory of its graduate. The evening program, prepared by current VSU students together with teachers, includes video sequences about Masherov's life and creative performances. Veterans and invited relatives of Masherov will share their memories with the youth.
