A petrochemical cluster is planned to be created in Novopolotsk

An agreement between the city executive committee, OJSC "Naftan" and Polotsk State University was signed recently in the oil city in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Semashko.

As the Deputy Prime Minister noted, the need to unite production, science, and the administrative apparatus has been long overdue. The cluster strategy will not only increase the efficiency of the participants of such a union but also stimulate the activation of innovative processes in the region and the republic as a whole.

The modernization of "Naftan" is currently being completed. The cost of investment projects for the technical re-equipment of the enterprise, which is planned to be completed by 2019, is 1 billion 715 million dollars. 1.3 billion has already been mastered.

After the introduction of the delayed coking unit this year, the depth of oil refining will reach 90%, and the yield of light oil products will be 77%. This is a high result, emphasized Vladimir Semashko. The task is to increase volumes and master new products, which will be facilitated by the cluster mechanism.
