Illegal cigarette batch worth Br100 million seized in Orsha district

An illegal batch of imported cigarettes worth over Br100 million was seized in the Orsha district, the press center of the Vitebsk regional inspection of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties informed a BELTA correspondent. During control measures on the Orsha-Liozno highway, employees of the Orsha district tax inspection and the traffic police department of the Vitebsk regional executive committee's internal affairs department stopped a Chrysler Voyager car driven by a resident of the Postavy district for inspection. Cigarettes not marked with the established excise stamps of the Republic of Belarus were found in the car's cabin. In total, about 35 thousand packs were transported in the car. The illegal cargo has been seized. An administrative process has been initiated against the offender under Part 1 of Article 12.27 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Belarus, which provides for a fine of up to 50 base units with confiscation of the goods (currently, one base unit is Br35 thousand). -0-
