An illegal shipment of fruit worth almost 500 million rubles was detained in the Polotsk district

An illegal shipment of fruits worth almost 500 million rubles was detained in the Polotsk district, according to the press center of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties Inspectorate of Belarus for the Vitebsk region.

The contraband was discovered during a check on the R-46 highway (Lepel - Polotsk - Russian border). Specialists from the Polotsk district tax inspectorate, as well as employees of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes and the State Automobile Inspectorate, established that a citizen was transporting fruits by an Iveco vehicle for further sale in Belarus – 1.7 tons of bananas worth 25.8 million rubles and 22 tons of mandarins worth 462.7 million rubles.

The fruits, with a total weight of 23.7 tons and a value of 488.5 million rubles, have been seized, and the inspection materials have been sent to court.
