Unauthorized action in Minsk resembles the early Middle Ages - expert

December 20, Vitebsk / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. The unsanctioned opposition rally in Minsk resembles the early Middle Ages. This opinion was expressed in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent by Veniamin Kosmach, Director of the Vitebsk branch of the International Institute of Labor and Social Relations, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor. According to him, the task of any political party is to strive for power, it was, is, and will be so, however, such a struggle must be conducted by civilized methods. "Indeed, the entire election campaign took place within the framework of democratic procedures, although aggressive notes were felt in the pre-election speeches of individual candidates, but until the last moment, it was hard to believe that they would cross the dangerous line," said Veniamin Kosmach. And the riots organized by the opposition in Minsk resemble early medieval barbarism. "Fighting for power in this way is unacceptable," the Doctor of Historical Sciences is sure. In addition, the head of the university categorically rejects the involvement of immature youth in political games. "If individuals are unable to fight for power in any other way, let them do it with the participation of their relatives - they will simply be laughed at, but why put the lives of young people at risk," Veniamin Kosmach wonders. In his deep conviction, it is unacceptable to provoke and put other people at risk due to one's own political ambitions, especially when it comes to inexperienced young people. At the same time, Veniamin Kosmach noted the confident calmness of the authorities in this situation, especially the restraint and professionalism of law enforcement agencies in confronting enraged thugs. By provoking riots, the organizers endangered people's lives, so they must be held accountable, he added. -0-
