"The Impossible" Performance to be Shown by Young People with Disabilities from Novopolotsk

"Невозможное" представление покажут молодые инвалиды Новополоцка

Young people with disabilities and volunteers from Novopolotsk will perform in the musical show "Around the World in 80 Days," the local city executive committee reported.

The performance will take place on December 15 at the Novopolotsk Culture Center. The musical show "Around the World in 80 Days," based on the work of Jules Verne, was staged by Yevgenia Bukotina-Isupova, the head of the theater club at the day care department for people with disabilities of the territorial social service center. As she explained, it is a joint project of people with disabilities and volunteer students from Polotsk State University and other educational institutions in the city. The young people have been attending the department for a year, helping young people with physical disabilities in socialization and integration into society.

The performance will be a kind of exam for the young people attending various clubs at the day care department. They made the costumes and decorations, props for the performance, and video accompaniment themselves. For each of the participants in the production, this is an achievement that can be compared to a round-the-world trip in the days when there were no airplanes or high-speed trains. "Back then, a trip around the world in 80 days seemed impossible. A person who accomplished it could rightfully be considered a sensation. We will retell this story in our own way and prove that the impossible is possible," the organizers noted.
