Nikolai Sherstnev visited Polotsk-Steklovolokno OJSC
Year after year – to grow, creating a foundation for sustainable development for many years to come. This is how Nikolai Sherstnev defined the main task for the industry of the Vitebsk region during his visit to one of the largest enterprises in the republic – JSC "Polotsk-Steklovolokno".
Today, Polotsk residents rightly belong to the cohort of leading global manufacturers of fiberglass and materials based on it.
The enterprise's workshops produce about 900 types of products, 92% of which are supplied outside of Belarus to 47 countries. In the coming days, representatives of the management will fly to America and Japan to conclude contracts with these countries for the next year.
– At the moment, – noted Oleg Kurilin, Deputy General Director for Commercial Affairs, – we sell everything off the shelf. Stocks of finished products are minimal, and those are represented by a non-seasonal assortment. The existing volumes are not enough to meet demand, so the implemented projects are aimed, among other things, at increasing the volume of manufactured products.
The recent registration of JSC "Polotsk-Steklovolokno" as a resident of the Vitebsk free economic zone will also expand opportunities for development.
– Life demands a new level of product quality, so we closely monitor the market and develop promising areas that tend to grow in order to produce what will be most in demand, – emphasized Andrei Bunakov, General Director of the enterprise.
One of the export-oriented investment projects is the construction of a workshop for the production of thermochemically treated electrical insulating materials for foil dielectrics. Its implementation in 2020 will allow for the additional processing of 2 million meters of fabric needed in the radio electronics industry.
The developed areas of structural and building materials, as well as high-temperature thermal insulation, also tend to expand. Thanks to the implementation of modern technologies and staff qualifications, the enterprise ensures high standards of production and product quality.
In 2017, the joint-stock company was awarded one of the most prestigious awards – the Government Prize of the Republic of Belarus for achievements in the field of quality.
During his visit to the enterprise, Nikolai Sherstnev met with the management of JSC "Polotsk-Steklovolokno", examined product samples, visited workshops, and delved into the nuances of the production process. Following the visit, the head of the region highly praised the team's work.
– It can be confidently said, – he noted, – that the enterprise is gaining a steady growth rate every year. The economy is improving, profits are growing, and ambitious projects are being implemented. But the global market must be conquered constantly. And here it is important not to miss the moment, not to rest on your laurels – otherwise, you can be left behind by modern processes. To prevent this from happening, we, together with the concern, must understand the development program of this enterprise and provide it with all possible assistance where necessary.
The Chairman of the regional executive committee also visited the branch of JSC "Vitebskhleboprom" Polotsk Bakery. In general, Nikolai Sherstnev described the current state of affairs in the industrial sector of the Vitebsk region as quite stable: there are good indicators in both production and foreign trade. However, here too, one cannot stop at what has been achieved.
– It is necessary to create conditions so that year after year we not only work stably but also grow. Having gained some stability, we must solve issues in such a way, especially for the main backbone enterprises, that the effect lasts for decades, – emphasized the head of the region.
