Nikolai Sherstnev visited the Senno boarding school as part of the "Our Children" campaign

Every adult can give children a fairy tale for the New Year, noted the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, talking to journalists today at the Senno boarding school for orphans and children left without parental care.

The head of the region visited the boarding school during the "Our Children" campaign. The governor was given a short tour of the institution. Nikolai Sherstnev talked with teachers and pupils, and also became a spectator of a New Year's performance with traditional round dances around the Christmas tree and gift-giving. "By and large, all our work is aimed at doing good. But in everyday life, we cannot always devote time to warm human relationships. And New Year is precisely the holiday when you can reach every child. No one should be left unnoticed. After all, all of us, adults, remember from childhood what New Year is. These memories are associated with something magical, with miracles, dreams. We all waited for this fairy tale, made wishes and sincerely hoped that they would come true," said the head of the region.

New Year and the "Our Children" campaign also mean gifts. According to the governor, New Year's gifts to children's institutions should be not only desired but also thoughtful and useful. "We strive to select for each educational institution, kindergarten, school, and boarding school exactly what the pupils need. And if it is something the children dreamed of, then here is a miracle for you. New Year is a fairy tale. This holiday was, is, and should remain so - filled with miracles for children," Nikolai Sherstnev is sure. The governor shared his childhood memories.

"New Year means holidays and magical winter weather with snow and frost. It was like that for us in the Vitebsk region. And also fairy tale films on TV - "Morozko", "12 Months". That childhood feeling of celebration and joy has remained in my soul to this day," he said. The director of the Senno boarding school, Leonid Kozlov, told journalists that 97 children from different cities and districts of the region are being raised in the institution. But during the New Year holidays, only about half of the children remained in the institution.

The boarding school organizes vocational training, our pupils actively participate in labor and social projects, and prepare for future family life. It is gratifying to note that our graduates find their way in life, are successfully realized - they study, work, start families, and raise children," the director emphasized.

He also shared his New Year's wish: "The most important thing is that the children are well. That they feel comfortable and cozy here, and when they leave our walls, they confidently and successfully build their destiny." To some extent, this will be facilitated by a gift from the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee - a certificate for Br6 thousand. The money is planned to be used for the purchase of sports equipment, furniture, interactive whiteboards, and other items necessary for the life and development of children. In turn, the governor and the representatives of the regional executive committee and district executive committee who arrived with him received souvenirs made by the children as a keepsake. The Senno boarding school for orphans and children left without parental care organizes vocational training in some working qualifications (carpenter, seamstress, vegetable grower, etc.). Production activities are carried out on the basis of the institution. In their free time, pupils, together with adults, grow agricultural products and produce carpentry and sewing products, which are used in the school and are sold. Work is underway to master folk crafts. The New Year's charity event "Our Children" started in Belarus on December 11 and will last until January 10. The marathon of good deeds is held under the patronage of the President of Belarus.

During the event, heads of republican government bodies, local executive and administrative bodies, enterprises and organizations visit children's boarding institutions, foster and adoptive families, children's hospitals, provide them with assistance in solving existing problems, and present gifts to children.
