The head of the region visited the boarding school as part of the "Our Children" campaign. The governor was given a short tour of the institution. Nikolai Sherstnev communicated with teachers and pupils, and also became a spectator of a New Year's performance with traditional
around the Christmas tree and the presentation of gifts. "By and large, all our work is aimed at doing good. But in everyday life, we cannot always devote time to warm human relationships. And New Year is precisely the holiday when you can reach every child. No one should be left unnoticed. After all, all of us, adults, remember from childhood what New Year is. These memories are associated with something magical, with miracles, dreams. We all waited for this fairy tale, made wishes and sincerely hoped that they would come true," said the head of the region.New Year and the "Our Children" campaign also involve gifts. According to the governor, New Year's gifts for children's institutions should be not only desired but also thoughtful and useful. "We strive to select exactly what the pupils need for each educational institution, kindergarten, school, and boarding school. And if it's something the children dreamed of, then here's a miracle for you. New Year is a fairy tale. This holiday was, is, and should remain so - filled with miracles for children," is confident Nikolai Sherstnev. The governor shared his childhood memories.
"New Year means holidays and magical winter weather with snow and frost. It was like that for us in the Vitebsk region. And also fairy tale movies on TV - "Morozko," "The Twelve Months." That childhood feeling of celebration and joy has remained in my soul to this day," he said. Leonid Kozlov, the director of the Senno boarding school, told reporters that 97 children from different cities and districts of the region are being raised at the institution. But during the New Year holidays, only about half of the children remained at the institution; the rest spend these days in foster families. "We raise and educate children from 6 to 18 years old. Professional training is organized at the boarding school, our pupils actively participate in labor and social projects, and prepare for future family life. It is pleasant to note that our graduates find their way in life, are successfully realized - they study, work, start families, and raise children," the director emphasized.
He also shared his New Year's wish: "The most important thing is that the children are well. So that they feelfeel comfortable and cozy here, and upon leaving our walls, confidently and successfully build their future." To some extent, a gift from the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee will contribute to this - a certificate for Br6 thousand. The money is planned to be used for purchasing sports equipment, furniture, interactive whiteboards, and other items necessary for the children's life and development. In turn, the governor and representatives of the regional executive committee and district executive committee who arrived with him received souvenirs made by the children as mementos. Vocational training in some working qualifications (carpenter, seamstress, vegetable grower, etc.) is organized at the Senno boarding school for orphans and children left without parental care. Production activities are carried out at the institution. In their free time, the pupils, together with adults, grow agricultural products and produce carpentry and sewing items, which are used at the school and sold. Work is underway to master folk crafts. The New Year's charity event "Our Children" started in Belarus on December 11 and will run until January 10. The marathon of kindness is held under the patronage of the President of Belarus.
During the event, heads of republican government bodies, local executive and administrative bodies, enterprises and organizations visit children's boarding institutions, foster and adoptive families, children's hospitals, provide them with assistance in solving existing problems, and present gifts to children.
