Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Belarus – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Anatoly Linevich, along with other representatives of the local authorities, were engaged in landscaping the territory of School No. 47, under construction in the Bilevo microdistrict of Vitebsk, during a subbotnik on April 25.

The new educational institution in the densely populated new housing area is planned to be commissioned this summer. The school is designed for 1,020 students. By the new academic year, 77 classes and a teaching staff of 190 employees have been preliminarily formed.

The school project includes numerous sports grounds, including those for mini-football, street workout, and basketball, two swimming pools, a weightlifting hall, areas for team sports, and a huge physical education hall.

– There is no other school like this in the Vitebsk region. It is interesting not only in terms of children's education. It will have a very serious sports base, which should be used for both the health improvement and physical education of schoolchildren, and for the training of high-level aspiring athletes, – noted Nikolai Sherstnev.

Construction work is in full swing and nearing completion, with the facility readiness at over 80%. Currently, interior and exterior finishing, assembly, and commissioning of technological equipment are being carried out. The grounds have been landscaped with the help of subbotnik participants. In the schoolyard, they planted honeysuckle, lilac, jasmine, and juniper, grown by "Zelentkhoz".

Incidentally, a total of about 9,000 trees and shrubs and 100,000 flowers are planned to be planted in Vitebsk this spring, and landscapers have already started their work.

– The region is resisting the epidemiological situation, living, and working. Today, a subbotnik is being held everywhere, but strictly adhering to safety regulations. We also prepared for it and decided to visit the new school in Bilevo – a very important facility, a long-delayed construction project, but we will complete it this year. We must not lose heart, not get lost in anxious thoughts, but work and focus on strengthening our physical health, – emphasized Nikolay Nikolayevich.

The funds earned during the subbotnik will be directed towards the restoration of monuments, war graves, historical and cultural sites, the preparation of health resorts for the summer season, and the improvement of populated areas.
