Nikolai Sherstnev to veterans: you show an example of high spiritual strength and devotion to the Motherland

Veterans of the Great Patriotic War set an example of high spiritual strength and true devotion to the Motherland. This was stated by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, addressing the veterans present at the Great Victory celebration in Vitebsk.

"First of all, I would like to congratulate our veterans on this sacred holiday for Belarusians. It is a great honor for us to be next to you, to embrace you, to shake your hands, to listen to your advice. You set an example of high spiritual strength and true devotion to the Motherland. With deep gratitude, we are doing everything to ensure that you live peacefully and in prosperity. We bow low to you for what you have done for the Victory, for the development of the country and the region," Nikolai Sherstnev emphasized.

A ceremonial procession in Vitebsk, dedicated to Victory Day, began from Lenin Square. The column, led by veterans, proceeded to the memorial complex in honor of Soviet soldiers-liberators, partisans, and underground fighters of the Vitebsk region, located on Victory Square. Schoolchildren, their parents and teachers, and representatives of the golden age carried portraits of heroes, Soviet soldiers who fought for Victory and drove the enemy from their native land. At the main monument on the central square, the rally participants laid wreaths and flowers at the Eternal Flame and honored the fallen with a minute of silence. Afterwards, representatives of the regional and city leadership laid flowers at the bust of Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Socialist Labor P.M. Masherov.

A festive concert was held for veterans, residents, and guests of the regional center. Also in Vitebsk, from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM, an evening festive program "Thank you to the heroes for the peaceful sky" will take place, which will conclude with a colorful fireworks display.

Solemn processions and other events dedicated to Victory Day are taking place throughout the Vitebsk region today. A district kite festival "Clean Sky of Orsha" has been organized at the Orsha ancient settlement. In Postavy, on Lenin Square, a youth flash mob "We Remember" was held, with about 100 people participating. They lined up to form the phrase "We Remember," holding vigil lamps. The Belarusian National Youth Union (BNYU) has launched 2 patriotic projects on internet platforms: the "Songs of Victory" internet challenge and the "Book from the Screen" creative book trailer contest. Everyone can enjoy musical and theatrical compositions from wartime, as well as watch short videos (book trailers) with readings of books about the war.
