Nikolai Sherstnev: Vitebsk region should develop dairy farming
About 10 more modern dairy complexes need to be built in the Vitebsk region, as announced today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev at a meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Slovakia to Belarus Jozef Migash.
According to Nikolai Sherstnev, investments in the development of dairy production are very promising now, and it is about creating large complexes for at least 5 thousand head of dairy herd.
"About 10 such complexes need to be built in the Vitebsk region. A Russian investor has already implemented one such project in the Gorodok district - milk yield of about 8 thousand liters, milk production profitability reached up to 70%. He is currently building another farm. The Chinese also intend to create such productions here. So, if there are interested parties in Slovakia in such cooperation, we are ready to discuss any options," noted Nikolai Sherstnev.
Jozef Migash, in turn, inquired about the possibility of acquiring agricultural enterprises to create breeding farms. Nikolai Sherstnev said that there is currently an opportunity to transfer enterprises to trust management, and then to ownership, while land is provided exclusively on a lease basis. And if Slovak colleagues bring progressive agricultural technologies and production management culture to the Vitebsk region, it will be valuable experience for the region.
