Nikolai Sherstnev presented the first passports to schoolchildren of the region as part of the campaign "We are Citizens of Belarus!"
In Vitebsk, at a ceremony dedicated to Constitution Day, the head of the region, Nikolai Sherstnev, presented the important document to fifteen 14-year-old schoolchildren from the Pridvinye region.
These girls and boys are excellent students, winners of subject Olympiads, participants in various creative competitions and ensembles, and many are keen on sports. And all of them pay great attention to the social life of their school and their small homeland, bringing it glory through their achievements.
Addressing the youth, Nikolai Nikolaevich noted that the authorities are striving to create all conditions for modern children to receive a decent education, to develop and be well-rounded. The head of the region expressed hope that the schoolchildren will become a worthy successor generation that teachers, friends, the country, and most importantly, their parents will be proud of.
As Viktor Glushin, the first secretary of the Vitebsk regional committee of the BRSM, told us, the patriotic campaign "We are Citizens of Belarus!" covers all regions of the Vitebsk region, and during its course, it is planned to issue passports to more than 300 young people.
Some of the young people visited Minsk and received their first adult document from the Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Natalya Kochanova, and the Chairman of the State Control Committee, Leonid Anfimov.
Now boys and girls will also become holders of new membership cards of the PRYSM Public Association, which are being presented in major cities this year. Viktor Glushin added that continuity of public associations is observed in Belarus: children of school age join the pioneer organization and, having gained experience, can join the ranks of the PRYSM from the age of 14.
Moreover, all 15 people who received passports at the solemn event on Constitution Day are already members of the youth union, setting an example for their peers.
Viktor Valeryevich also shared his memories of receiving his passport. At that time, the main document of a citizen of the country was issued only upon reaching the age of 16, and it was awaited and held with a certain trepidation.
– It was very exciting, – admitted Viktor Glushin. – The passport was a document that confirmed that you had become an adult, had moved to a new level of responsibility. And although I received it not in such a solemn atmosphere as the children today, I clearly remember that moment.
And the boys and girls, of course, will not forget the day when they celebrated an important holiday together with the country and became more mature.
