A new children's outpatient clinic has opened in Vitebsk

A new children's outpatient clinic opened in Vitebsk today.

The festive event was attended by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev, Head of the Main Department of Healthcare of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Senator Yuri Derkach, Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee Vadim Zaryankin, other distinguished guests, and local residents.

The primary healthcare children's outpatient clinic is located on the ground floor of an apartment building in the densely populated Bilevo microdistrict. The pediatric department No. 2 of the regional children's polyclinic, comprising 12 sections, has been relocated here. The outpatient clinic also includes a vaccination and laboratory room, a laboratory, and a functional diagnostics room. Specialists will be available for appointments on a schedule. The outpatient clinic will begin fully admitting young patients and providing them with medical care starting March 9. The new outpatient clinic will serve 11.5 thousand children living in Bilevo.

According to the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, this is a young, developing microdistrict, with young families with children forming a significant part of its population. "A few years ago, it was decided to restructure healthcare relations, to move away from concentrating problems in large institutions (polyclinics, hospitals), and from patient overcrowding. The peculiarity of this facility is that it allows bringing the most in-demand primary healthcare closer to local residents. It will be convenient and comfortable for visitors here. It will also be easier for healthcare specialists to work, meaning they can provide higher quality care," said Nikolai Sherstnev. "I believe we will continue to move in this direction."

Touching upon the development of the region's healthcare system, the head of the region noted: much has already been done, but even more remains to be implemented. "We know the problems of Vitebsk and the region. We need to tackle the regional hospital. This is not a simple facility, difficult in scale and funding. This year, we need to find a source of funds to work through all the issues, systematically approach its repair and complete all work next year. Then we will have small facilities left, which we can deal with in a year or two, bringing all our other medical institutions into normal condition," Nikolai Sherstnev added.
