A new roller ski track will open in 2009 in Tolochin
September 3, Minsk / Yekaterina Nechayeva - BELTA /. A new roller ski track will be opened in Tolochin by the end of 2009. This was announced by the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, Leonid Kozik, at a festive meeting on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Belarusian Biathlon Federation, which took place today at the FTC sports and recreation base "Olimpiets", BELTA correspondent reports.
An agreement on cooperation was concluded between the two federations - trade unions and biathlon, within the framework of which the FTC will allocate about Br1 billion in 2009 for the development of biathlon, Leonid Kozik said. One of the projects being implemented with this funding is the construction of a new roller ski track in Tolochin. "The site for the track has already been prepared, all that remains is to pave it with asphalt, and in a couple of months it will be possible to ski there," assured the leader of the Belarusian trade unions.
The new facility is intended not only for biathletes but also for everyone who wants to. "Today it is extremely important to pay more attention to the development of mass sports. This way, we will distract thousands of children and teenagers from idleness on the streets and bad habits," Leonid Kozik is convinced.
Honored biathlon coaches of Belarus, famous athletes, including Svetlana Paramygina, Yuri Albers, Ivan Belorukhov, Vladimir Duran, were present at the festive meeting today. For their great contribution to the development and popularization of biathlon, they all received valuable gifts. -0-
