A new school has opened in Vitebsk

September 1, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. A new school opened today in Vitebsk in the Bilevo-1 microdistrict. Over 1.1 thousand children and teenagers became its students, including about 200 first-graders, a BELTA correspondent reports. Congratulating the children, parents and teachers on this event, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets emphasized that the new school has created all the conditions for the harmonious development of schoolchildren and the accumulation of a solid knowledge base. The educational institution is equipped with four computer classes, special rooms for music lessons, extracurricular activities, a library, two dining halls for 230 seats, and modern equipment has been installed in the labor rooms for girls and workshops for boys. Developed infrastructure has been created for sports activities: the building has a gym and a sports hall, and a stadium complex with volleyball and basketball courts, a hockey rink, a football field, and a tennis court has been built on the school grounds. A barrier-free environment has been created in the school for children with psychophysical development disabilities. "A rich base has been accumulated, so the school complex will operate not only during school hours but also ensure the employment of teenagers on weekends and during holidays," the governor noted. Alexander Kosinets stressed that in the coming years, the entire district will receive a new impetus for socio-economic development. Thus, in October, a kindergarten for 170 places will open its doors here. Two more kindergartens for 275 places each are planned to be commissioned in 2011. In the future, a school for 1030 students is planned to be opened. In addition, the construction of polyclinics, shopping centers, cultural and business centers, and parking lots is planned. New facilities will be built in parallel with housing construction and in the shortest possible time, added the chairman of the regional executive committee. -0-
