A new oil field has been discovered in Belarus
July 26, Minsk /Olga Belyavskaya - BELTA/. A new oil deposit has been discovered by specialists of RUP "Belgeologiya" in the Oktyabrsky district of the Gomel region, Deputy General Director, Chief Geologist for Oil and Gas of the enterprise Yaroslav Gribik told a BELTA correspondent.
A new hydrocarbon deposit was found during the testing of the exploratory well "Yuzhno-Vishanskaya No. 34" at a depth of 3252 - 3272 m in the lower horizons of sub-salt deposits. The oil inflow obtained here is preliminarily estimated at 5 cubic meters per day. Geologists continue drilling the well. "The second interval of the well is currently undergoing testing, which is located deeper," the source said. "It is planned to be developed in the near future."
In parallel, research continues on two more wells, where oil inflows were also previously obtained - "Shatilkovskaya No. 15" in the Svetlogorsk district and "Novokazanskaya No. 47" in the Kalinkovichi district of the Gomel region. "The development of the "Shatilkovskaya No. 15" well is nearing completion, and these works are being carried out jointly with "Belarusneft," Yaroslav Gribik noted. "Testing in the casing of the "Novokazanskaya No. 47" well will begin in the near future."
This year, "Belgeologiya" is expected to ensure an increase in industrial oil reserves by 400 thousand tons. To fulfill this task, geologists are expanding the geography of exploration. "We have problems with stable oil inflows because the discovered deposits are small in size, so in the second half of this year, we plan to accelerate the drilling of new wells," said Yaroslav Gribik. Among them is "Prokhorovskaya No. 13," located in the Prokhorovskoye oil field. Geologists are currently expanding research here in the western direction. In September of this year, it is also planned to drill the "Novoberezinskaya" well in the Zhlobin district. Another similar project will be carried out in the Svetlogorsk district - to study the oil potential of the so-called Morozovskoye area.
During the search for oil in the Belarusian subsoil, geologists plan to use new geophysical research methods. In particular, the depth of hydrocarbon exploration will be increased. A well has already been drilled in the Glussky district of the Mogilev region, the design depth of which is planned to be 5100 m. "Today it has a bottom hole of 1700 m, at the beginning of the fourth quarter, we plan to reach the sub-salt carbonate deposits at a depth of 3900 - 4300 m and evaluate them," said the specialist. - Drilling of the well will continue in 2012, however, further depth development will require more robust drilling equipment."
The search for new oil reserves and their development are envisaged by the State Program for Geological Exploration and Development of the Mineral and Raw Material Base of Belarus for the period up to 2020. The document provides for further strengthening of the country's own fuel and energy potential, exploration, prospecting and preparation for industrial development of new deposits of construction materials and other types of non-metallic raw materials, regional geological study of the Belarusian subsoil to assess its territory for various minerals, and other tasks.
"Belgeologiya" conducts exploration and prospecting for all types of minerals, state accounting and monitoring of mineral reserves, and, together with the Department of Geology of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, carries out prospective planning of geological exploration work.-0-
