The new building of the State Committee of Forensic Expertise was opened in Vitebsk
With the commissioning of the building, the work on creating an expert town in Vitebsk, which began in 2008, has been practically completed. The first two construction phases involved the reconstruction of a 3-story administrative building, which currently houses the department; the third phase was the reconstruction of the old morgue building. Now it is a specialized multifunctional facility with a total area of over 2,400 sq. m. The building also houses departments of forensic medical examination and a block of premises for outpatient reception of citizens.
The commissioning of the 3rd construction phase has made it possible to create proper working conditions for experts, meeting sanitary and labor protection requirements, to equip them with new specialized premises, modern laboratory equipment and technology for conducting examinations, and furniture.
– The new complex will improve working conditions not only for forensic medical examiners. The building also houses premises for firearms testing, a ballistics laboratory equipped with advanced computer systems and specialized equipment, – noted the Head of the Department of the State Forensic Examination Committee for the Vitebsk Region, Andrei Pozdnyakov. – Laboratories for working with infectious diseases are also provided, and on the second floor there are premises for histological examination of objects that undergo expert examination. Forensic medical examiners perform 80% of all examinations conducted in our department, and in total, we conduct about 40 thousand examinations per year.
