A new fire station building has opened in Ushachy
The former building of fire and rescue unit No. 1 of the Ushachy District Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations did not meet modern requirements, so it was decided to demolish it. Construction of the new building began in March of this year. The work was financed from the extra-budgetary centralized investment fund of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the regional budget, and the own funds of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The solemn opening of the new fire station was attended by the Minister of Emergency Situations Vladimir Vashchenko and the regional leadership. The Minister drew attention to the growth of professionalism among rescuers serving in the updated units.
"The material and technical base of the Ministry of Emergency Situations units in the Vitebsk region is improving with each city in accordance with the requirements of the time," he noted. "In the near future, it is planned to put the Orsha district in order: by order of the head of state, the fire station in the urban settlement of Baran will be restored."
For the housewarming, the minister presented his colleagues with the keys to a new fire tanker truck AC-10-40 and a Geely passenger car. The fire brigade in Ushachy was first mentioned in 1905. At that time, it was modestly equipped with a water barrel of 400 liters, a short hose, shovels, buckets, ropes, as well as hooks, axes, and a bulky hand pump. All this was transported by horse.
