The staff of the Vitebsk State Order of Peoples' Friendship Medical University has been introduced to a new rector.

From 2006 to 2023, he served as an assistant, postgraduate student, and associate professor at the Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Healthcare, and Rector of the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. In 2011, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences on the topic "Fetal Echocardiography in the Ultrasound Screening of Pregnant Women."

The main research areas include the development and implementation of comprehensive diagnostic studies of body structures using radiation diagnostics methods, assessment of organ functional capacity, development of methods for predicting pathology development, and organization of a telemedicine consultation system in ultrasound diagnostics. He successfully conducts training of scientific and pedagogical personnel.

He developed and implemented curricula and programs for advanced training and retraining courses in ultrasound diagnostics of pathological conditions, the use of sonoelastography in the diagnosis of organ diseases, the application of 3D/4D sonography technologies, and the practical use of sonographic contrast agents for early diagnosis of human pathology.

The Minister of Health of Belarus, Dmitry Pinevich, outlined a number of tasks related to improving the work of VSMU, which serves as a model platform for the entire country. In particular, starting from the next admission campaign, new targets for targeted training will be introduced, and special attention will be paid to selecting the most gifted students outside of established admission procedures. Furthermore, it is necessary to improve the practice-oriented nature of the educational process from the first year to postgraduate training, considering that VSMU has long-standing traditions in this area.

Dmitry Pinevich emphasized network training, when professors from PSU named after P. Masherov and the Veterinary Academy will give lectures and conduct practical classes at the medical university, which will enhance the competencies of future specialists in areas such as biotechnology, food safety, and pedagogy. Additional knowledge will only help in providing medical care. A certified doctor should be a well-rounded individual, not only professionally but also knowledgeable in foreign languages, versed in art, understanding the history of their country, and responsible for its future. Dmitry Pinevich stressed the importance of creating a medical and biological cluster in the Vitebsk region, comprising university, industrial, innovative, and commercial components.

The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, expressed gratitude to the previous rector of VGMU, Anatoly Shchastny, and noted that the doors of the regional head's office are always open for him. Anatoly Tadeuszewicz will remain at the university and will oversee the creation of the medical and biological cluster.

Alexey Chukanov emphasized that he is deeply involved in the issues of healthcare and education. The tasks set are clear and transparent, and VGMU has the potential and capabilities to solve them.
