A New Year's ball for the region's student youth was held in Vitebsk
The participants of the regional New Year's Ball were welcomed by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev. He emphasized that the goal of the "Our Children" campaign is to bring a piece of New Year's joy, light, and celebration to every child. The task of the authorities is to not overlook anyone.
– The New Year's Ball is becoming a good, beautiful, and noble tradition, – noted the head of the region. – Today, the best of the best students and cadets are present in this hall. Of course, among you are not just talented people, but also geniuses. You, all those present here, are united by one common trait – diligence. Believe me, life is not always about luck. Fortune comes and goes. Success is achieved only by those who work, who, sparing no effort, strive towards their goal. You have taken a good start today. I sincerely wish you not to lose yourselves and to be the best. Multiply your achievements, the glory of your fathers, and our region. You are indeed our future! Happy New Year!
Then, as befits a real ball, young men and women, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic, plunged into the world of the polonaise, waltz, Hungarian dance, and pat-a-pat.
The regional New Year's Ball with the participation of the region's leadership was a gift for the best students of Vitebsk universities, as well as students of the Vitebsk and Polotsk Cadet Schools, who excelled in their studies, sports, creative pursuits, and social life. These are winners of various creative and scientific republican and international festivals and competitions, scholarship holders, participants in scientific conferences, volunteer and student work brigade movements, and youth law enforcement units.
According to Anastasia Mitskevich, a 3rd-year student of VGMU, a participant of the "Quickstep" ballroom dancing ensemble, laureate of the International Festival of Arts for Students of Medicine and Healthcare Professionals, and winner of the International Dance Art Festival "Dance Power", all the participants had been rehearsing dances from the century before last with choreographers, and had been learning the etiquette and manners of that time.
Kirill Kubrakov, a second-year student of the same university, also shared his impressions:
– I always wanted to take part in such a large-scale event. To twirl in a dance in beautiful outfits next to charming companions, to immerse myself in the atmosphere of the 19th century. It is very exciting and at the same time an honor to receive congratulations from the head of the region, – the young man noted.
The classical part of the ball was complemented by performances by soloists of the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic, the Honored Ensemble of Classical Dance "Pirouette".
A pleasant bonus to the New Year's ball was the game entertainment, in which Ded Moroz and Snegurochka invited participation. The concluding chord was the presentation of New Year's gifts and a group photo for memory.
