Navalukoml has something to be proud of: citizens, together with local authorities, celebrated the city's anniversary

Новолукомлю есть, чем гордиться: горожане совместно с местными властями отметили юбилей города
Even at 55, Navalukoml in the Chashniki district is still a young and energetic city in every sense. The residents celebrated the beautiful date of its founding on a grand and cheerful scale.

A solemn parade of labor collectives side by side with representatives of local authorities, concerts with the participation of young and adult amateur artists, entertainment for children and their parents, mobile trade, surprises – this is how the residents of Navalukoml will remember this City Day.

For example, for some, it was a surprise, albeit a quite logical one, to receive the title of honorary resident of the city. Among them was the chief physician of the Navalukoml Central District Hospital, Nikolai Pinchuk. The CDH was recognized as the best among similar institutions in 2016, and its employees annually receive honorary awards from regional and republican authorities.

An anniversary is a time for summing up results: what has been achieved, what still needs to be done. The city of power engineers has something to be proud of.

– The Lukomlskaya GRES is not only a city-forming enterprise, it is the flagship of Belarusian energy, an example of innovative approaches and highly efficient technologies, – noted the chairman of the Chashniki District Executive Committee, Leonid Pleshko. – 70% of Navalukoml residents are somehow connected with it, its specialists are in demand in one of the most important sectors of our country, their skills and knowledge are highly valued not only in Belarus but also abroad.

It is symbolic that the holiday took place on the eve of Builders' Day, the people thanks to whom Navalukoml was erected in the shortest possible time. But today, builders are inextricably linked with the fate of the city: there are quite a few enterprises in this sphere here.

Another significant player in the local industry arena – the expanded clay gravel plant – became the winner of the republican competition for the best achievements in the construction sector based on the results of 2018, showed high results in socio-economic development and savings of fuel, energy, and material resources. The enterprise is listed on the regional Honor Board, and its director, Mikhail Lazarevshvili, who by the way holds the title "Manager of the Year – 2017", was also awarded an Honorary Diploma of the regional executive committee and was granted the title of honorary resident of Novolukoml.

Small business is actively developing in the city. This year, the private unitary enterprise "LukomlGroupGarant", which produces commercial concrete and mortars, began its operations. Many shops have opened, including those of private ownership. All this contributes to the creation of new jobs and favors population employment. Local businessmen strive not only to strengthen their business but also to transform their hometown. Thus, for a significant contribution to the development of Novolukoml, one of the active representatives of the city's business community – individual entrepreneur Maxim Kalinin – was awarded an Honorary Diploma of the regional executive committee.

The city is growing: the construction of a new 40-apartment building has recently begun, and the reconstruction of the LGRES dormitory into a residential apartment building is underway.

The energy of Novolukoml is truly enviable: sports are widely popular here, both among children and their parents. Youth and adult mini-football teams bring home cups from various competitions, including republican and international ones. As an example, one can cite the recent "Hop Cup": thanks to last year's victory, the Novolukoml team managed to attract the mini-football tournament to the city of energy workers, and this year the "Elektron" team confirmed its championship title. The traditions of shooting sports and biathlon are also well-developed here. And the names of renowned athletes from Novolukoml, such as Lidiya Grafeeva, are known worldwide.

The townspeople know how to work hard and also how to relax in style. The collectives of the City Palace of Culture and the Children's Art School constantly replenish their trophy collection with victories in various competitions.

The residents of Novolukoml care about keeping their hometown bright and clean. They work together on its improvement. Of course, there is still much to be done, and there are many plans for the future. Residents and local authorities are confident that they have the strength for everything!
