Novopolotsk resident Ekaterina Kiseleva became the European champion in water ski figure skating

The Belarusian water skiing team, which included Novopolotsk residents, masters of sports of international class Ekaterina Kiseleva and Artem Morozov, won the European Championship by boat among juniors under 21, ahead of France, Great Britain, and 13 other countries.

In the individual standings, the Belarusians won 14 medals, and Ekaterina Kiseleva became the European champion in figure skating.

The correspondent of "VV" met with the triumphant athletes of the competition and their coaches at the water skiing base of the Children and Youth Sports School No. 3 named after Nikolai Genov on Lake Lyukhovo in Novopolotsk.

20-year-old PSU student, future economist Ekaterina Kiseleva, has just returned from Norway, where the championship was held, and is very tired. Looking at this petite blonde, it is impossible to imagine that at the European Championship she "flew" off the ramp for 44 meters, improving her own record by almost 4 meters.
Also, a scholarship holder of the Special Fund of the President for the social protection of gifted students, she won a bronze medal in slalom based on the results of the competition, becoming one of the top ten young athletes in Europe, and another bronze medal in the overall competition.

The secret of success, according to the champion, lies in constant physical training, willpower, and the professionalism of the mentors of the most famous water skiing school in Belarus – honored coaches of the Republic of Belarus Arkady and Vladimir Genov.

– I have been training for many years, – says Ekaterina. – Various things have happened during this time, including bruises and injuries. But I still love sports. It is, of course, complex and multifaceted, but at the same time, it allows you to fully express yourself. After all, it requires not only excellent coordination and physical strength but also a certain artistry, the ability to present yourself on the water.

Today, 150 boys and girls from the age of six are studying at the Children and Youth Sports School No. 3, and adults also enjoy learning to "stand on water." Over half a century of water skiing in Novopolotsk, the Genov coaching dynasty has been established with its own author's methodology for training athletes.
