Novopolotsk intends to cooperate with the Latvian city of Jekabpils in the field of economy and business
Jēkabpils already has a Belarusian twin city, Lida, as stated by the Chairman of the City Council Leonid Salcevich. However, when building relationships with partners, the residents of Jēkabpils are guided by the principle "The more friends you have, the richer you are."
At the meeting in the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee, the parties discussed priority areas for cooperation, which has already been established in the fields of culture and sports. In particular, joint participation in international projects, implemented with the financial support of the European Union, could be promising.
The two cities are connected by a river. Jēkabpils is located 90 km from Daugavpils on the banks of the Western Dvina, which is called Daugava in Latvia. The destinies of our peoples are also intertwined, so there is a strong foundation for developing relations, as well as a desire to get to know each other even better.
