Novopolotsk welcomes autumn with a rock marathon
The rock marathon "Novopolotsk - a city without drugs" will be held in the oil city on September 6, Vadim Devyatovsky, chairman of the Novopolotsk city organization of the republican public association "Belaya Rus", deputy chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus on Health, Physical Culture, Family and Youth Policy, told a BELTA correspondent.
For seven hours, live music performed by bands representing different rock genres will be played on the main square of Novopolotsk. In the breaks between performances, musicians will express their attitude towards drugs. "Our initiative has found a lively response from musicians. Expressing support for the organizers, one of the participating bands even posted a video against drugs on social media," said Vadim Devyatovsky, emphasizing that Novopolotsk is a young student city, which explains the choice of musical and thematic focus of the event.
The rock festival, as part of the "White Rus" Music Evenings" campaign, will be held in Novopolotsk for the fourth time. About a dozen bands participated in the first one, and this year more than 50 bands from Belarus and Russia have expressed their desire to participate in the festival. 15 bands from different regions of the country will perform on stage, with approximately half of the participants being representatives of Novopolotsk and the Polotsk region. "Rock Day in Novopolotsk is an anticipated and recognizable event aimed at supporting young musicians. It is a real celebration for rock fans and lovers of live music," the interlocutor noted.
