Novopolotsk skiers will represent Belarus at the Youth Olympic Games
Skiiers from Novopolotsk will represent Belarus at the II Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway, which will be held from February 12 to 21, 2016.
The selection of skiers took place in Raubichi as part of the Olympic Youth Days of the Republic of Belarus. In the group of participants born in 1998-2000, 71 boys and 42 girls competed. Vitebsk region was represented by graduates of Novopolotsk Children and Youth Sports School No. 2, Anna Koroleva and Egor Shpuntov. They showed the best results based on the results of two days. Thus, Novopolotsk took the entire quota for the republic.
– We wanted, we wished, we dreamed – and we are very happy that everything worked out. Now we are training in Raubichi and from there – straight to Lillehammer. The guys are motivated, talented, hardworking, I think they have a great future, – said coach-teacher Inessa Kozlova.
Her students are worthy successors to the traditions of the Novopolotsk ski school. Anna Koroleva, a graduate of Gymnasium No. 1, has been racing since she was 9 years old. She has won numerous republican competitions and participated in the European Olympic Youth Days in Liechtenstein in 2015. Egor Shpuntov, a student of Secondary School No. 7, is also a multiple winner and prize-winner of republican competitions. Both athletes are part of the national youth team of Belarus.
