Novopolotsk "Izmeritel" masters the production of power electronics for electric transport

Novopolotsk Open Joint-Stock Company "Izmeritel" intends to master the production of power electronics for electric transport, the enterprise's director Vitaly Smargunov told a BELTA correspondent. This is a new direction for the plant.

Its development is due to "Izmeritel's" entry into the state program for the development of electric transport and will be carried out jointly with the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. "We are currently at the initial stage of implementing this project. A list of products that the enterprise will have to master has been determined: a voltage converter, a power inverter, and a balancing device for a battery. Their pilot samples for testing are planned to be manufactured this year. Next year, we will establish production to meet the needs of equipment manufacturers," said the head.

Currently, 380 people work at the enterprise. "In the Soviet era, the staff numbered about 9 thousand people, however, it should be taken into account that orders were then fulfilled for the entire military-industrial complex of the USSR. With its collapse, the plant had to go through difficult times, but the enterprise managed to reorient itself, preserve itself, and then strengthen its positions. Now we are systematically increasing production and involving idle areas in economic circulation," added Vitaly Smargunov, commenting on a question from a Novopolotsk resident about the state of affairs at the enterprise, which came during the BELTA campaign "Your Question to the President."

Vitaly Smargunov emphasized that the Novopolotsk enterprise, which includes two main production sites (assembly and mechanical assembly), operates stably, and wages are paid on time. According to the results of 2018, it amounted to Br840 (for December - Br1077). The share of exports in the total volume of sales is 55%. The products are supplied to the Russian market, the largest consumers of which are the Petersburg Tractor Plant, the Elins Scientific and Technical Center, and the industrial

In Belarus, products are sold to major equipment manufacturers: BelAZ, MTZ, "Gomselmash", MAZ, "Saleo", "Amkodor", Borisov Plant "Avtogidrouselitel". The plant produces furniture fittings for the company "Pinskdrev". To grow further, "Izmeritel" is helped by close cooperation with scientific centers - the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belarusian-Russian University.

The enterprise intends in 2019 to invest Br800 thousand of its own funds in the development of existing production areas (automotive and tractor electronics; automation and telemechanics products). They will be directed towards modernizing equipment. Last year, Br640 thousand were allocated for this purpose. The upgrade allowed for the adoption of a new technology for casting products in silicone molds.
