A new fire station was opened in Polotsk
Great news for all residents of the "Airport" microdistrict in Polotsk – they are now under reliable protection! The employees of the new fire and rescue unit No. 4 of the Polotsk city and district department for emergency situations have taken them under their wing. The modern facility was commissioned in less than a year. The construction work was carried out by Shumilinskaya PMK-70. They managed to finish just in time for the holiday.

30 people will serve in the unit, with 9 rescuers on duty daily. The most comfortable conditions have been created for the personnel: technical rooms, recreation rooms, psychological relief rooms, and a gym are equipped. The unit is armed with three five-ton fire trucks and a 30-meter aerial ladder.
The microdistrict, which cannot do without such a facility, houses 95 apartment buildings, three retail outlets, one high-rise building, and the "Polotsk Drinks and Concentrates" enterprise, which uses chemically hazardous substances.
Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin congratulated everyone on this important event:

— Many thanks to everyone involved in the creation of this facility. I believe it will become another cornerstone for the well-being of Polotsk and our entire region. And, of course, it will set the tone for the further development of the "Airport" microdistrict. Firefighters are not just about fighting fires. Firefighters are the hope of every citizen for a safe and peaceful life. We know that rescuers are always nearby and ready to help.
Opening socially significant facilities on the eve of November 7 is a good tradition where formality has no place. The head of the region stated:
- Seeing that, despite everything, we are building hospitals, schools, kindergartens, fire stations, I feel proud of Belarus. That it increasingly lives up to the brand of "a country for life"!

For the head of the Vitebsk Regional Emergency Situations Department, Sergey Meshkin, Polotsk is his hometown:
— I clearly remember how the "Aeroport" microdistrict began to develop. I saw the first high-rise building being built here, the first store opening... Today, almost half of Polotsk lives here, with many residential buildings and social facilities. Taking this into account, the authorities made an absolutely correct decision – to create a fire station and equip it with personnel and all necessary resources.
The personnel of the new fire station No. 4 are ready to handle the entire spectrum of possible emergencies. An interesting fact is that there is a wonderful sports ground on the territory of the depot, which is open to everyone. This includes local coaches and their trainees, who can train together with rescuers and get acquainted with fire and rescue equipment.
Sergey Meshkin shared his plans. This year, design documentation is being developed for the reconstruction of the old fire station in Sharkovshchina. It is planned to be completely renovated by the regional "Dozhinki-2023" festival. In the future, the same awaits fire stations in Postavy and Glubokoye.
