A new turkey farm is being built in the Dubrovensky district
In the context of tightening sanctions, it is clear even to a non-specialist that the food security of a country is a guarantee of state independence. In addition to supplying the domestic market, our products are successfully exported to dozens of countries around the world. PUP "Orshanskaya Poultry Farm" is also considering the prospect of increasing foreign supplies, implementing a new investment project in the Dubrovensky district.
"This is the territory of a former large pig complex, which ceased to exist several years ago due to epidemiological reasons," explains the Deputy Chairman of the Dubrovensky District Executive Committee, Alexander Shatravko. "The facility was part of an integration structure and was one of the divisions of the Orsha Meat Processing Plant. Then it was decided to transfer it to the poultry farm to implement a promising industrial project in all respects. The impetus was Presidential Decree No. 58 of February 26, 2021 "On Construction Activities," which significantly simplified the procedure and reduced the investment cycle for the construction of such enterprises."
The Director of PUP "Orshanskaya Poultry Farm," Vladimir Prokhorov, emphasizes that such support from local authorities has proven that the idea is important and necessary.
— They will be stocked with young turkeys this month. And the builders will continue their work — the implementation of the investment project is divided into several stages, — Vladimir Fedorovich continues the business excursion.
The poultry houses will soon be stocked with young turkeys.
— Now we are landscaping the territory around 11 reconstructed poultry houses, and it will take about three years to complete the entire volume of construction and installation work (this includes 20 poultry houses plus auxiliary infrastructure).
The new factory is designed for a population of over 100,000 birds. After reaching production capacity, it will at least triple the output of products, become one of the largest turkey growing enterprises in the country, and will be able to supply consumers with over 5,000 tons of meat annually.
— We shouldn't have any staffing problems, — the manager reasons. — In close proximity to the construction site are the large settlements of Osintorf and Shabany. Orsha is also not far away. We will organize transportation of people and their training on-site. As for the key specialists, we will find them too, and submit applications to universities.

Vladimir Prokhorov speaks about the future of the new production in a state-minded manner, looking far ahead. Yes, today turkey meat is in demand and there are no problems with its sale. But can stable demand be guaranteed tomorrow? The most profitable economic projects are those where the maximum depth of raw material processing is ensured. Therefore, discussions are already underway about the urgent need to design a modern high-tech slaughterhouse, which will allow for the full utilization of fattening farms. It is important that it is precisely after the commissioning of such a workshop that the opportunity will arise for deeper processing of raw materials, and for increasing the output of own semi-finished and finished products. In this case, the poultry farmers are confident, their position in both domestic and foreign markets will significantly strengthen.
Awaiting a Housewarming
A huge production site with dozens of buildings. Many of them are still in a semi-dismantled state, awaiting builders and installers. Soon, the unsightly buildings will change both their appearance and purpose, as 11 solid structures have already done. The new buildings look impressive – large and bright, equipped with modern equipment for poultry farming."This is the territory of a former large pig complex, which ceased to exist several years ago due to epidemiological reasons," explains the Deputy Chairman of the Dubrovensky District Executive Committee, Alexander Shatravko. Last year, agricultural organizations in the Vitebsk region produced a total of 99 thousand tons of poultry meat, which is 3 thousand tons more than in 2022.The residents of Dubrovno embraced the idea with enthusiasm. A new factory in a small district means new jobs, salaries, and investment attractiveness for the region. Therefore, everyone came out for special workdays to help the future poultry farmers. They dismantled old equipment and cleared the site. More than 750 tons of scrap metal alone had to be removed!

A delicacy for gourmets
— Until now, our enterprise has been mainly engaged in the production of chicken eggs — 145-150 million pieces per year, — notes Vladimir Prokhorov. — But a small turkey growing workshop for 30 thousand heads has been operating for several years, so this is not a new business. Annually, we receive and send about 700-800 tons of meat to consumers. The economic effect is not bad, which is why the decision was made to expand this specialization. Especially since turkey meat is also in demand in neighboring Russia. So there is a niche for increasing exports. In 2023, compared to 2022, the poultry farm produced 90 tons more turkey meat and 8 million more chicken eggs....While we are inspecting the territory of the future poultry farm, the power engineers have already turned on the lighting in four huge poultry houses — they are practically ready for commissioning. Another check of the computer system, which will take full control of the microclimate regulation in the premises, is underway. The human factor is excluded.

Towards a full cycle
It is obvious that without state support, it would not have been easy for the Orsha poultry farmers to cope with such a serious task. In addition to legislative simplification of the construction process, they also received financial assistance. Under the rFor the implementation of the project, by the decree of the President, budgetary loans and sponsorship funds from bank profits were allocated to the enterprise. A solid amount from its own working capital was also invested in the business by the factory itself, of course.— We shouldn't have any staffing problems, — the manager reasons. — In close proximity to the construction site are the large settlements of Osintorf and Shabany.
