New varieties of long-staple flax, developed by Orsha scientists, will be sent for testing in China

Новые сорта льна-долгунца, созданные оршанскими учеными, отправятся на испытания в Китай

New varieties of long-fiber flax, developed by scientists of the Flax Institute in Ustye, will undergo trials in the climatic conditions of China, from where, in turn, experimental samples of seeds of this crop will arrive in the Orsha region for similar purposes.

This exchange is provided for by a cooperation agreement between RUP "Institute of Flax of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" and the Academy of Sciences of Heilongjiang Province (PRC). As reported to "Vitebskiye Vesti" by the research institution, its signing took place at the beginning of the week and was one of the events of the program of the visit to the institute of an official delegation of the academy, headed by its president, Guo Chunjiang.

The Chinese colleagues visited the Orsha region for the first time, so the main part of the business communication was dedicated to familiarization with the scientific and production base of the specialized research institution. In particular, they visited the experimental fields of oil flax and long-fiber flax. The achievements and developments of Belarusian scientists aroused particular interest among the Chinese guests, and the blooming crops of the traditional Belarusian culture left unforgettable impressions. The results of the professional discussion formed the basis of the concluded agreement, which also provides for information exchange and a number of other areas of mutually beneficial cooperation. It is expected that a return visit of Belarusian scientists may take place as early as September of the current year.

The signing of the document was a logical continuation of high-level agreements reached during the recent visit of PRC Chairman Xi Jinping to Belarus.
