The new bridge in Beshenkovichi will save millions of rubles

May 1, Minsk /BELTA/. Military railway engineers have erected a pontoon road bridge across the Western Dvina River, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus told BELTA. The 183-meter-long road bridge with a 4-meter-wide roadway was erected in the urban settlement of Beshenkovichi (Vitebsk region). The transport troops carried out this operation as part of tactical special exercises on restoring a bridge across a water obstacle. As noted by the defense department, the tasks of the exercises, which were conducted by the bridge company of the 77th separate Red Banner railway bridge battalion, have been completed. The Ministry of Defense added that the bridge will reduce detour routes for agricultural machinery and vehicles by 120 km and save millions of rubles for industrial and agricultural enterprises in the Vitebsk region. The units and formations of the transport troops of Belarus are carrying out educational and practical tasks at ten facilities of the national economy of the country. The most significant of these are the construction of pontoon and temporary bridges, and the repair of access railway tracks to the country's peat enterprises. In March of this year, a temporary bridge with a total length of 45 meters was built across the Tucha River in Kletsk district, and in May, units will begin erecting a 40-meter-long pontoon bridge across the Sved River in Rechitsa district and constructing a road bridge over 60 meters long. It is also planned that this year a 90-meter-long pedestrian bridge will be erected across the Neman River in Grodno and a road bridge over 80 meters long in Dobrush. -0-
