The new martial arts sports complex "Olimpiets" is opening in Polotsk

December 8, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Young wrestlers from Polotsk will receive a wonderful gift on the eve of the winter holidays - a new martial arts sports complex "Olimpiets". Its opening will take place on December 9, Leonid Zaitsev, head of the sports and tourism department of the Polotsk City Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent. The complex will unite a wrestling hall, a game sports hall, a gym, and a rehabilitation center with a sauna, swimming pool, and massage room under one roof. About a hundred young athletes can train here simultaneously, not only wrestlers but also rowers - students of specialized children's and youth sports schools of the Olympic reserve. Polotsk residents seeking active recreation will also be able to visit the center: paid sports and health sections will be available for them. The construction of the complex was envisaged by the comprehensive program for the development of Polotsk for the period up to 2012 and was included in the state investment program. About Br4 billion has been allocated from the republican and regional budgets for its construction. As Leonid Zaitsev noted, "Olimpiets" is the first, but not the only sports facility whose commissioning is envisaged by the comprehensive program. Work has already begun on the construction of a rowing base, and about Br13 billion is planned to be allocated for its creation. It is expected that rowers will be able to train as early as spring 2011. Another major facility - the Palace of Game Sports - will be commissioned in 2012. -0-
