The first 800 tubes of glass jars under the trademark «BАBY HIT» will be released in the coming days by the new baby food canning workshop of the Orsha Meat Processing Plant.

In May, commissioning works were completed, and a trial batch of canned food has already received a high rating from the laboratory. Now the workshop is reaching full production capacity, which will allow to increase the output of products by almost 1.5 times.

The landscaping of the territory around the building, which, by the way, is not inferior in area to the enterprise – 5 thousand sq.m. – is at the final stage.

The main building houses administrative, domestic, production facilities, and a laboratory.

As Sergey Logunov, Deputy General Director for Production and Product Quality of the Orsha Meat Processing Plant, said, the full cycle – from raw materials to finished products – is performed on a new Italian line. Each room of the workshop fully complies with the sanitary and hygienic standards for baby food. The new glass packaging with a capacity of 100 g will allow to increase export volumes significantly and expand the geography of supplies over time.

The advantage of glass containers over aluminum is obvious: the buyer can always see what exactly he is buying – by color, consistency. Moreover, if the meat processing plant buys aluminum cans in Russia, then glass jars are purchased in our country. And here is an obvious plus: import substitution allows for savings. Although the production of baby food in the usual aluminum packaging has not been abandoned yet – the new line is also suitable for metal containers. True, the packaging format has changed: now 30 jars are packed in a sealed box instead of 60.

The new workshop is bright, spotlessly clean, with barely audible air conditioners. Climate control sensors are installed even in the corridors. People are practically not involved, as the main load now falls not on workers, but on “smart” machines.

Raw materials are accumulated in the first room. There are chambers for storing by-products, fish, poultry, etc. By the way, the range of meat, meat-and-plant, and fish-and-plant products of the Orsha Meat Processing Plant has been supplemented with a new type of beef canned food – for children from 6 months. As reported by the chief technologist Svetlana Uloga, the new product has successfully passed tests and was liked by babies and their mothers.

Next, the meat from the storage chambers is delivered in chilled form to the raw materials department. There, it is deboned and trimmed, after which the processed raw materials are fed into the portioning room. Here, everything is ground, mixed according to the recipe, and packaged into jars, which have undergone preliminary treatment with hot steam and boiling water, and are sealed. Everything is loaded by robots onto the conveyor – and into the autoclave. Then it is dried with air and sent to the labeling machine. At each stage, only 1 person controls a link in the cycle. Previously, more than a dozen workers were involved in any of the processes. The jars are fed to the shrink-wrapping machine and packed not in boxes, as before, but in special film, 16 pieces per pack. The formed pallets are sent for aging – because according to the technology, as Svetlana Uloga explained, canned food is kept for 21 days after sterilization and before entering the retail network. This takes place in a warehouse at a specific temperature, automatically regulated. Then, the certified laboratory issues a conclusion on the possibility of selling the products.

Pallets are transported by special machines, which successfully replace several loaders.

Needless to say, the progress is evident! The 153 billion rubles spent on construction and equipment will fully justify themselves. After all, the new workshop offers completely different opportunities, which the Orsha Meat Processing Plant does not intend to miss.
