On the consumer market

The situation in the consumer market of the region remains stable. Despite the increased demand for certain food products, such as sugar, cereals, vegetable oil, pasta, and salt, they are available without interruption.

This is ensured both by the supply of food products by the processing enterprises of the republic in accordance with the applications of trade organizations, and by the creation of buffer stocks of these goods by wholesale bases and retail chains. Sugar, cereals, vegetable oil, salt, and some other food products with long shelf lives are in stock for more than a month of sales.

Meat and dairy products, and bakery products produced by the region's enterprises are delivered directly to stores daily according to applications and in line with demand.

In order to maintain a stable situation in the consumer market of the region and prevent price increases, the Regional Executive Committee's Order of May 19, 2011, No. 359r approved the System of Measures to Stabilize the Situation in the Consumer Market. This System of Measures recommends that trade enterprises maintain the current level of trade markups on basic food products, and for pasta, cereals, meat semi-finished products, vegetables, and fruits, trade markups have been reduced by 2-5 percentage points. The list of goods for which a reduction in trade markups is recommended includes 23 items. At the same time, for tea, coffee, and other food products not included in the list, the level of trade markups should not exceed 30%.

Trade enterprises have responded positively to these measures. Markups on food products are applied in accordance with the Regional Executive Committee's order, and for certain groups, they have been reduced even further, with a flexible discount system being applied.

For example, in all stores of JSC "Vesta", a trade markup of 5% is applied to imported vegetables and fruits, and for coffee, tea, and cereals, it is reduced by 5 percentage points compared to the recommended level. JSC "Nika" has reduced trade markups on sausages and dairy products by 5 percentage points, and in store No. 41 of JSC "Vitebskiye Produkty" on Pobedy Avenue, for socially significant

For essential food products, the trade markup is 5%, for vegetable oil – 8%, for other products – 10%.
