JSC "Gomeltransneft Druzhba" transferred a unique object to the Polotsk monastery
Polotsk is rightfully considered the cradle of Belarusian statehood, culture, and education. And a significant role in this belongs to the Spaso-Evfrosinievsky Monastery, where thousands of people from all over the world come today. Here they seek peace and goodness, pray for their loved ones, and learn to be merciful.
The further development of the pearl of Orthodoxy will also be served by a new gift – a former recreation center, which until recently belonged to industrialists. Its solemn transfer to the Belarusian Orthodox Church took place on Sunday in Polotsk with the participation of the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Natalya Kochanova.
A special certificate was presented to Mother Evdokia, the abbess of the Spaso-Evfrosinievsky Monastery, by the General Director of Gomeltransneft Druzhba OJSC, Oleg Borisenko. Along with the certificate, 17 buildings and structures, as well as more than three hectares of land and a forest park, were transferred to the ownership of the monastery.
Speaking to guests and parishioners, Natalya Kochanova emphasized:
— The women's monastery in Polotsk is the largest in the country; it is currently a monasteryfor more than 100 nuns. It is difficult for such monasteries to exist solely in urban conditions. So the offer of the oil company to transfer the recreation center to the Orthodox Church turned out to be very relevant. Today, a clear system of cooperation has been established between state institutions and the church. Especially in terms of moral and spiritual education. The Polotsk Monastery is a cultural and educational center where young people and children come.
This means that together we can do a lot to ensure thatto avoid educational mistakes, to return lost souls to reality, to preserve peace and stability in our wonderful country.
The concluding words of Natalia Ivanovna resonated with the audience, including the Gomel and Novopolotsk employees of OJSC "Gomeltransneft Druzhba" who were present at the ceremony:
— History is our roots. Recently, we marked a tragic date for all Belarusians – the anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. We leafed through the pages of military chronicles again, stirred up painful memories in our souls. And it became even more evident: knowing how many lives World War II took and how much grief it brought to our people, we simply have no right to allow even the slightest possibility that our children and grandchildren will ever experience something similar. We are responsible for them and for the future of the country as a whole.
By the way, the recreation center, which the nuns are already beginning to develop, is located 30 kilometers from Novopolotsk. It has a very favorable location for rehabilitation, spiritual rest, and the search for peace. There is a coniferous forest around, and a beautiful lake in close proximity. It is not surprising, that the monastery intends to establish a skete here, where nuns tired of worldly vanity will live, work, and pray. There is no doubt that thanks to their diligent hands, this unique place will become even more beautiful.![]()
