October 5, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. OAO "Technolit-Polotsk" has manufactured a monument to the Heroes of the 1812 Patriotic War for Maloyaroslavets, Russia, the enterprise's director Leonid Petrov told a BELTA correspondent. The contract value is $1 million. In accordance with it, the Polotsk enterprise recreated the monument for the Russian city in the shortest possible time. Phased shipment of the order will begin this week. The last shipment is scheduled for October 18. The appearance of the monument practically corresponds to its Polotsk counterpart, although it has minor differences. Thus, the dome of the monument for Maloyaroslavets is more elongated and spherical in shape. Its lower tier is decorated with swords, wreaths, and ribbons. According to Leonid Petrov, the possibility of manufacturing a similar monument for the city of Krasnoye is currently being discussed. In January-August, the enterprise produced products worth Br10.9 billion, which is almost 11% more than in the same period last year. Products worth $622 thousand were supplied for export to Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Latvia, and Lithuania, or 139.3% compared to January-August 2009. By the end of the year, export growth is expected to double. The share of exports in the total sales volume is 25%. The enterprise was founded in 1927. It specializes in the production of gray cast iron products and metalworking products. The average number of employees is 360 people. The chapel monument was opened in Polotsk in 1850. The author of the project was architect Fixen. The monument was a pyramid topped with a dome with a gilded cross. Around it stood 8 cast-iron columns with domes, on which gilded eagles sat. All this rested on a cylindrical pedestal. The height of the monument was 23.7 m, and the total weight reached 221 tons. Similar monuments were erected in the mid-19th century in seven settlements where the most significant battles of the 1812 Patriotic War took place. More than 44 million Russian rubles were allocated from the budget of the Union State for the recreation of the monument, provided for by the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Polotsk for the period up to 2012. The grand opening of the monument took place in May this year. -0-
