The republican competition "Best City and Region for Business in Belarus-2013" has been announced
The competition is organized by the Union of Legal Entities "Republican Confederation of Entrepreneurship" in conjunction with regional business associations, with the support of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus. It was first held in 2008. The number of participants is growing every year, but not all regions have submitted applications yet. In 2012, there were over 70 participants, and this year the organizers are calling for greater activity from administrations and executive committees.
Winners will be determined in two stages: first at the regional level, and then in the national final. Four nominations have been established: the best city (region) with a population of less than 50,000 people, more than 50,000 people, the best region for business, and a district of Minsk. Among the main criteria that the jury, consisting of experts, professors, and analysts, will consider when summing up the results are the share of individual entrepreneurs and small enterprises per 1,000 people in the region, production volumes, taxes paid, investments and exports, and the quality of consideration of business community issues at executive committee meetings and sessions of local councils of deputies.
– The positive results of the competition are evident in the example of Polotsk, which became the winner of the competition in 2011. Businessmen and investors from different countries showed interest in it. This is our goal, – noted Vladimir Karyagin, Chairman of the Presidium of the Union of Legal Entities "Republican Confederation of Entrepreneurship".
The winners based on the results of 2012 were recognized as Narovlyansky District, Molodechno, Frunzensky District of Minsk, and Gomel Region. We will find out in June who created the best conditions for business development, on which the economy of the region as a whole largely depends.
