A Russian turned out to be the owner of Br2 billion in a Belarusian lottery

February 22, Minsk /Corr. BELTA/. The winner of the record jackpot in the history of Belarusian lotteries, amounting to Br2 billion, turned out to be a Russian citizen, Nikolai Tereveynin. This was announced today to journalists by Marina Podlipskaya, Head of the Economic Department of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. The family of the record jackpot winner came to Belarus a year and a half ago to visit their parents' graves. They liked the country, so they soon received a residence permit and settled in the Miory district. Currently, the happy owner of the significant cash prize is retired, and before that, he worked as a lumberjack. The lucky winner donated 2% of his winnings to charity. Thus, he transferred Br20 million to the Perebrodskaya State General Secondary School-Kindergarten and Br10 million each to the Dishna Kindergarten and the Perebrodskaya Church. According to representatives of the lottery business, the draws of Belarusian lotteries have been declining recently. This can be explained by the fact that a circle of people who constantly play lotteries has been formed in the country, and attracting new players is slow. The lottery business in Belarus is regulated by the Decree of the President "On Lottery Activities in the Republic of Belarus". According to the document, 45% to 50% of the funds raised from the sale of lottery tickets go to form the prize fund, 35% go to taxes, part of which is directed to support physical culture and sports, and 15-20% go to the needs of the lottery organizing enterprise. -0-
