The Regional Coordination Council of Public Associations and Political Parties summarized the results of its work in 2020

The Regional Coordination Council (RCC) of public associations and political parties was one of the first in the country to start holding dialogues on a wide range of issues. This information was announced at a council meeting dedicated to the results of work in 2020.

As reported by Valeryan Matskevich, Chairman of the regional organization of the Belarusian Union of War Veterans in Afghanistan, who heads the RCC, four meetings were held during the year, and about 25 issues were considered. The presidential election of the Republic of Belarus became an important political campaign. Public associations took an active part in the formation of election commissions.

“On August 9, even before the voting results were announced, our ‘conscious’ ones brought young people out into the city streets, not accepting the official election results. The so-called color revolution revealed the colors of all similar phenomena in the world. Today, the hand of Western special services is clearly visible. Their task is to detach Belarus from Russia, sow chaos, and deprive it of statehood. In this situation, the President and the country's leadership showed resilience and courage to maintain stability,” said Valeryan Matskevich.

An important moment in the search for consensus was the dialogue platforms, where topical issues of current politics were discussed. The round table held at the Vetraz hotel, initiated by the Republican Party of Labor and Justice, deserves attention. Practically all public associations and political parties registered in the Vitebsk region took part in this dialogue. Representatives of the executive authorities, deputies of the House of Representatives and members of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, and deputies of the regional council also participated in the dialogue platforms. Public reception offices continue to work actively. Various questions are received from visitors, and nationwide issues are formed into proposals for the All-Belarusian People's Assembly.

The participants of the meeting exchanged views on the current situation. Gaps in patriotic education and other pressing issues were discussed. Public organizations and political parties, together with the executive authorities, need to strengthen their actions in this direction and seek new forms of work. Their opinions were expressed by the chairman of the regional organization of the Belarusian Union of Officers Sergey Denisov, the chairman of the regional organization of the Liberal Democratic Party Igor Teplyakov, the chairman of the regional branch of the Belarusian Peace Fund Tatyana Tumanova, the chairman of the regional association of Veterans of the Airborne Forces and Special Operations Forces Vyacheslav Belous, the chairman of the regional organizational structure of the Belarusian Union of Journalists Alexander Klitsunov, the deputy chairman of the regional trade union association Viktor Lugovtsov, the deputy chairman of the political executive committee of the regional organization of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice Valery Ananchenko, the chairman of the regional organization of the Belarusian Society of Disabled People Mikhail Korolyun.

The Deputy Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee Anatoly Gutsulyak emphasized that in 2020, the public associations and parties included in the regional coordination council demonstrated political maturity. They distinguished themselves by participating in dialogue platforms and public reception offices. The appeals of the members of the coordination council to the residents of Vitebsk region are highly valued. In particular, they stated that ensuring peace and harmony in society should remain among the priorities of Belarus's socio-economic development, which must be ensured taking into account various views and beliefs. At the same time, progress must be built through dialogue – this is the only correct way to resolve any issues.

2021 has been declared the Year of National Unity in Belarus. The regional coordination council of public associations and political parties is ready to work productively to achieve the set goals and objectives.
