A regional seminar with leaders of veteran organizations was held in Orsha
They came to the city on the Dnieper to learn from the experience of the Orsha District Council of Veterans in interacting with organizations and institutions of the district on matters of protecting the social rights of veterans and preparing for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.
Welcoming the seminar participants, Viktor Kolochev, Deputy Chairman of the Orsha District Executive Committee, emphasized that a clear system of work with veterans has been established in the region. For many years, the district veteran organization has been headed by a caring person with an active life position – Zinaida Khaichenko. She has managed to unite people of golden age into one cohesive team, surround them with attention and care, and find an approach to everyone.
In conjunction with the Department of Labor, Employment, and Social Protection, the territorial center for social services, the military commissariat, trade unions, and other interested services, various forms of interaction with veterans are employed. Zinaida Khaichenko and Ekaterina Murenkova, Director of the Territorial Center for Social Services, spoke in detail about this.
The chairmen of the primary veteran organizations of the Orsha railway hub, the flax mill, and the urban settlements of Orekhovsk and Bolbasovo shared their experience of joint work with various structures, at enterprises, and at their places of residence in solving social problems of veterans, their cultural leisure, and the military-patriotic education of youth.
The most pleasant moment was the awarding of the anniversary medal in honor of the 60th anniversary of the meeting of partisans and underground fighters at the Mound of Friendship, located on the border of Belarus, Russia, and Latvia, by Gennady Egorov. The recipient was Vladimir Tsetsoha, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Council of Veterans. In due time, Vladimir Alekseevich was at the origins of the creation of the patriotic project "Mound of Friendship" and made a great contribution to the development and prosperity of the Vitebsk region. He still holds an active life position, is full of energy and new ideas.
During the practical part, the seminar participants visited the homestead of labor veteran Vladimir Sukhodolsky. He has originally landscaped his yard with his own hands, which resembles a fairy-tale town. Also, the chairmen of veteran organizations took an introductory tour of Orsha, visited Kopys, and on the other bank of the Dnieper – the village of Alexandria.
