The regional sports and arts festival "Vitebsk Ski Track-2017" was held in Gorodok
The main goal of the event is to promote a healthy lifestyle, develop and popularize winter sports, and Olympic ideals and traditions. This year, the ski race was attended by executives of the regional executive committee, city and district administrations, students, and representatives of labor collectives of organizations and enterprises.
— "Vitebsk Ski Track" is a celebration of a healthy spirit and body, local government leaders are present here to show by personal example that regular physical activity helps achieve success in life, — said Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentyev. — I myself try to visit the pool in the morning, and walk to work.
Excellent conditions for practicing sports have been created in the Vitebsk region, and our compatriots regularly win medals at major international competitions. Master of Sports, member of the national team, champion of Belarus and participant of the youth world championship in cross-country skiing Timur Jumaniyazov led the column of participants of the competition at the opening ceremony of "Vitebsk Ski Track-2017".
In the Sparrow Hills tract, there was no room to swing a cat during the races. Over a thousand skiers, from schoolchildren to pensioners, expressed their desire to participate in team and individual races of 800 m; all districts sent their representatives to Gorodok. The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev did not miss the opportunity to ski on one of the best tracks in Belarus.
He performed at the final stage of the relay and made a significant contribution to the victory of the regional executive committee team over the closest pursuers — the administration of the Pervomaisky district and the Orsha District Executive Committee, which took 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.

the best remedy for all bad habits.The race was difficult, especially the steep climb. I prepared for the performance in advance, trained, so I am satisfied with the result.
In other races, the competition was also fierce, and the places were distributed as follows: among the representatives of the executive branch, the strongest were the Gorodok, Liozno, and Glubokoe district executive committees; among the committees and departments of the regional executive committee – the committee for labor, employment, and social protection, the State Control Committee, and the committee for agriculture and food; among the security forces – the Department of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the KGB Department.
"Vitebsk Ski Track" is not only a sporting but also a significant cultural event in the life of the region. The organizers prepared a concert, and outdoor trade was organized.
Rescuers and paratroopers demonstrated their skills.
Those who wished could ride in a horse-drawn sleigh, a bathhouse was heated on the lake shore, kebabs were being prepared, and guests were treated to pancakes and tea.
It was also possible to test your skills in various games and amusements: darts, checkers, chess, football, sculpting snow figures, etc. In general, everyone who wished found entertainment to their liking. Nikolai Sherstnev, for example, took kettlebells and surprised many by achieving the second result in his age category.
At the end of the celebration, Nikolai Nikolaevich assured that such events would be held on a regular basis, and the infrastructure of the ski-roller track in Gorodok would be improved.
