Renovated wards for war and labor veterans will open in November in four central district hospitals of the Vitebsk region

In four central district hospitals (CDHs) of the Vitebsk region, wards for war and labor veterans will be modernized by November 2021, with work being carried out using funds from the Belarusian Peace Fund. This was reported by Tatyana Tumanova, Chairperson of the Board of the Vitebsk Regional Branch of the Public Association "Belarusian Peace Fund".

Work has already begun in the CDHs in Glubokoye, Ushachi, Orsha, and Dokshitsy. The renovated wards will be solemnly opened in November. "They will be equipped with modern medical equipment and necessary household appliances. In addition to new beds and bedside tables, war and labor veterans will be able to use a refrigerator and a TV, which will increase the comfort of their stay in the healthcare institution. We plan to open four wards in each of these four CDHs," said Tatyana Tumanova.

The head of the regional branch added that the Peace Fund, in agreement with the main department for healthcare of the regional executive committee, plans to equip at least one such ward in each district hospital of the Vitebsk region by May 9, 2022. However, work to increase the number of wards will continue even after the Victory Day celebration. "The main task for medical workers and the Peace Fund is to take care of the older generation, who forged victory on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War and after it in peacetime – at enterprises and organizations of the region. War and labor veterans should feel at home even in the hospital, so that treatment is effective," emphasized Tatyana Tumanova.
