The renovated sports and recreation complex in Senno is gaining popularity
In fact, it was not even a reconstruction of the facility, but new construction. After all, in the former unheated sports and recreation complex, it was once seriously suggested to flood an ice rink in winter. Now, thank God, all this is perceived as an unfortunate joke.
Funds for construction were mainly used from the regional and district budgets, with assistance from the Ministry of Sports and Tourism and sponsoring organizations. The general contractor was Vitebsk Construction Trust No. 9. And, as noted by those who use its services, the builders have done a great job. The first word that comes to mind here is comfort. This applies to both visitors to this oasis of health and those who work here.
I was given a tour of the facility by Alexander Gordetsky, Deputy Head of the Department of Education, Sports and Tourism of the Senno District Executive Committee. The game hall with a modern surface will delight fans of mini-football and other team sports, there is also a gym, fitness and table tennis rooms, and a lounge for coaches. The necessary requirements for creating a barrier-free environment have also been met.
Now the halls are warm and cozy. There is its own autonomous boiler room that maintains the set temperature. It is fully automated, and only once a month does a housing and communal services specialist take meter readings.
The prices for visits are democratic by the standards of the regional center itself. For example, a monthly fitness pass (3 classes per week) will cost 22 rubles, and you can play tennis for an hour for one ruble. And, according to the townspeople, you have to queue for ping-pong. Such a surge of interest in physical education. And the game hall has already hosted inter-district volleyball competitions, a New Year's mini-football tournament, and other competitions.
In addition, last year the stadium with a running track, a gymnastic town and exercise equipment was renovated here.

Artificial lighting allows matches to be held at the stadium after dark.The complex is also in demand among students of the local sports school. Moreover, athletics coaches note that if earlier there were cases of missed classes, today the children gladly go to training, and there is no shortage of those who want to. And this cannot but rejoice. Thanks to the comfortable conditions, it has become possible to introduce new disciplines, for example, shot put, which already has its own stars. The beach volleyball court on the lake shore is in demand.
Today, sports in the region are developing systematically. In addition to the existing one, a new artificial turf mini-football pitch is being built. The adult football team performs with dignity in the regional championship; this year, only at the end of the season did they lose their advantage over the future champions – Lepel residents, but they won the Regional Cup. The club defended the honor of the Vitebsk region in the republican Cup of Regions.
Local athletes and sports enthusiasts hope that next year the construction of a base for a cult sport in Senno – biathlon – will be completed. Suffice it to say that in the current Belarusian national team, there are pupils of the local sports school, Irina and Viktor Krivko. And, I am sure, this land will give more than one sports talent, which will be facilitated by new facilities.
